The homes large 80-metre squared conservatory was designed by Ian Coupland of Richard Sheppard Structural engineering firm in Sussex and provides a large bright environment in which the residents join in with any activities provided the homes activity co-ordinators.
The large conservatory looks out on to the garden with an easily accessible path for all. There are plenty of spaces in the garden to sit and relax and take in the sights, sounds and smells of nature.
The conservatory has a dining area where residents can enjoy their meals. Alternatively, we have a dedicated dining room at the front of the building where the staff play music and create a restaurant like atmosphere for our residents to enjoy.
In addition, we have another quieter lounge situated on the middle floor with a large projector screen for the residents to enjoy watching movies. There is also dining space in this room. There is also a small quiet area on the middle floor for people to sit and relax in the peace and quiet or to enjoy visits from relatives.
Ashtonleigh is blessed to enjoy the culinary delights of Dot Sheppard and her team. Dot has been with the home since it opened over 20 years ago. She is very much more than just a cook, she gets to know each of the home's residents, their likes and dislikes for food and any dietary requirements or preferences they may have. She really represents the ethos of the home and strives to offer the residents whatever they wish for. One gentleman for example enjoyed lobster on his 100th birthday, along with a glass of wine, but whatever the residents choice is the home will do its best to cater for this. In addition, the home caters for special diets like Diabetes, vegetarian, religious diets etc.
The meals are all freshly prepared each day and are wholesome and nutritionally balanced. We encourage the residents to come to the dining area every day and glasses of wine ,red, white or rose, sherry or whiskey are offered to the residents if they wish to partake. If the residents prefer to have their meals in the room then we offer the same service to them in their rooms.
