Ashtonleigh Nursing Home has a very experienced staff team a number of whom have been with the home a number of years.

Nicola Ambler

Senior Registered Manager

The homes Senior Manager Nicola Ambler is a qualified Registered Mental Nurse and has managed the home for more than fifteen years. She specialises in working with people with dementia and regularly updates her knowledge by attending courses. Nicola manages a team of deputy managers, nurses, senior carers and carers as well as domiciliary staff to ensure that the home runs smoothly and that they comply with CQC regulations. Nicola also ensures that the staff attend regular training courses to keep their knowledge up to date to guarantee that the care the residents receive meets the residents needs as well as CQC standards. She monitors all the residents in her care and ensures that they are receiving care to the highest standard. This is reflected in the most recent CQC inspection that Ashtonleigh where the home received a Good rating. Nicola is very much a hands-on manager and assists with personal care, assisting with feeding and socialising with the residents as she feels that this is the best way to get to know the residents and it also means that she can closely supervise her staff team.

Registered nurses

The home has nursing care 24 hours per day. There is a nurse on shift at all times of the day, the night and weekends. All our nurses are trained to a high standard to complete nursing duties for catheterisation, venepuncture, wound care and verification of death.

Hanna & Jade

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Lead (Dols)

Hanna Marchant and Jade Purtill are Ashtonleigh's Dols Leads and have worked at the home for over 5 years. They are responsible for completing any applications for a Deprivation of Liberty and liaises closely with the Dol's team. They have extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and regularly attends training courses to keep their knowledge up to date. They also work closely with the management to ensure the day to day running of the home is smooth and effective and that the staff are complying with CQC regulations. They also assist the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living and are qualified in Safe Administration of medication. Hanna and Jade are also keyworkers and are responsible for reviewing and updating residents care plans on a regular basis. They also liaises with professionals and relatives to keep them informed and up to date.

Senior Carers and Carers

The senior carers also assist the residents with their personal care and deal with administration of medication and supervise the carers. Some senior carers are Keyworkers and are responsible for updating and reviewing residents care plans.

The carers assist the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living as well as socialising with them and maintaining good levels of nutrition and hydration.

Sarah Triccas

Receptionist

Sarah Triccas is our professional, friendly and experienced receptionist. She warmly welcomes everyone in to the home and has experience in care for over 6 years. Before she became Ashtonleigh's receptionist she was a senior carer so knows the residents very well. Sarah liaises with professionals, relatives and visitors to the home and is proud to show our home when viewings are requested.

Dot Sheppard

Head Chef

Dot Sheppard is Ashtonleigh's head cook has worked at the home for more than 20 years and is famous for her excellent cuisine. Dot and her team pride themselves on their 5 star excellent food safety rating with Horsham Council for their excellent standards within the kitchen at Ashtonleigh Care Home. Dot is very traditional in her approach and always puts the resident first and thus always speaks to them about what menus they wish for and always offers a variety of different options. She is well versed to offering different culinary diets such as food for people on a gluten free diet, vegetarian, diabetes and multi-cultural diets.

Activity co-ordinator

This nursing and residential care home in Horsham West Sussex has experienced activity coordinators who provide a wide variety of stimulating activities throughout the day.
