Ashtonleigh residental care home in Horsham has regular visits from the local churches around Horsham. Communion is held once a month and a church hymn service is held once a month from the Baptist Church.
At Ashtonleigh care home we like to celebrate our residents birthdays and encourage families and friends to come in and enjoy this special occasion with their relatives. Dot the homes chef always makes a birthday cake and the home arrange a gift for their residents to help celebrate.
This Horsham care home makes any excuse for a celebration and has numerous big celebrations throughout the year.
To name but a few this Horsham Care Home celebrates its own opening in 1997 with its annual BBQ in July. All the residents and their families have a great day in the garden with marquees, entertainment and Dots feast!
Christmas time is extra special at Ashtonleigh we have our numerous entertainment in December as well as a party where resident’s friends and families can come and enjoy a day on entertainment and good food and plenty of dancing. Ashtonleigh also hold a raffle at this time with proceeds going to charity.
Ashtonleigh also have their activity coordinators who keep the residents physically and mentally active throughout the day. They set out a varied activity programme which includes many group activities such as skittles, marbles, quoits, word games, baking and bingo. They also engage residents in one to one activities such as crossword puzzles, knitting, arts and crafts and reading. Many of the activities also cater for people with dementia and there are a lot of reminiscence activities too. A lot of the activities can be seasonal as well to celebrate different dates and times of the year. They are also responsible for booking entertainers to come in to the home to entertain the residents with music, dancing, plays, animals and pantomimes.
Ashtonleigh have a Chiropodist who visits the home on a 6 weekly basis and professionally attends to the residents footcare needs.
Ashtonleigh has a hairdresser who comes to the home on a weekly basis and offers shampoo and sets, haircuts, mens cuts, perms and hair colouring.
Ashtonleigh also have invested in a minivan and like to take their residents out on trips whether it be to the garden centre for afternoon tea, a day at the beach with fish and chips or an evening thrip to the theatre. This disability vehicle has 5 seats and 2 disability seats for residents that require wheelchair assistance.
