Our Team

Ashtonleigh residential care home has a very experienced staff team a number of whom have been with the home a number of years.

Senior Registered Manager

The homes Senior Manager Nicola Ambler is a qualified Registered Mental Nurse and has managed the home for more than fifteen years.  She specialises in working with people with dementia and regularly updates her knowledge by attending courses. Nicola manages a team of deputy managers, team leaders, senior carers and carers as well as domiciliary staff to ensure that the home runs smoothly and that they comply with CQC regulations. Nicola also ensures that the staff attend regular training courses to keep their knowledge up to date to guarantee that the care the residents receive meets the residents needs as well as CQC standards. She monitors all the residents in her care and ensures that they are receiving care to the highest standard. This is reflected in the most recent CQC inspection that Ashtonleigh where the home received a Good rating. Nicola is very much a hands on manager and assists with personal care, assisting with feeding and socialising with the residents as she feels that this is the best way to get to know the residents and it also means that she can closely supervise her staff team.

Registered Manager

Laura Kaminski the Registered Manager of Ashtonleigh has worked there for more than 9 years and is Qualified in Leadership and Management level 5 (LMC).  Her job roles include managing the staff alongside Nicola and working alongside the deputy managers and team leaders to ensure the care staff are complying with CQC regulations and that the residents receive care to suit their individual needs and to a high standard. Laura also assists the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living and is very much a hands on manager as she feels that this is the best way to get to know the residents and it also means that she can closely supervise her staff team. Laura is qualified to deal with Safe Administration of Medication and carries out regular medication audits. Laura also carries out Audits of the care plans.  Laura liaises with professionals and relatives on a regular basis to keep them informed and up to date. She also attends regular training courses to update her knowledge and holds a certificate in Advanced Dementia Care. Laura is also a Dementia Friend and the home’s Dignity Champion.


Senior Deputy Manager

Nick Purtill is the senior deputy manager of Ashtonleigh who has worked at the home for more than 9 years and is NVQ level 3 qualified and is currently doing his LMC level 5 qualification. He works closely alongside Nicola and Laura to ensure the day to day running of the home is smooth and effective and that the staff are complying with CQC regulations.  Nick assists the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living and is qualified in Safe Administration of medication and also Advanced dementia care.  He attends regular training courses to update his knowledge.  Nick is a keyworker and is responsible for reviewing and updating residents care plans on a regular basis.  He also liaises with professionals and relatives to keep them informed and up to date.  Nick is the home’s Safeguarding Champion and also the Fire Champion and oversees all of the Fire safety checks and Health and Safety Audits and checks. 

Deputy Manager

Caroline Hillier is the deputy manager of Ashtonleigh who has worked at the home for more than 4 years and is NVQ level 3 qualified and is currently doing her LMC qualification. She works closely alongside Nicola, Laura and Nick to ensure the day to day running of the home is smooth and effective and that the staff are complying with CQC regulations.  Caroline assists the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living and is qualified in Safe Administration of medication and also Advanced dementia care.  She attends regular training courses to update her knowledge.  Caroline is a keyworker and is responsible for reviewing and updating residents care plans on a regular basis.  She also liaises with professionals and relatives to keep them informed and up to date.  Caroline is the home’s Infection Control Champion and oversees all of the Infection Control Audits and maintains high standards of Infection prevention and control in the home.

 

Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Lead (Dols)

Jade Purtill is Ashtonleigh’s Dols Lead and has worked at the home for over 6 years.  She is NVQ 3 qualified and is currently completing her LMC level 5. Jade is responsible for completing any applications for a Deprivation of Liberty and liaises closely with the Dol’s team.  Jade has extensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and regularly attends training courses to keep her knowledge up to date.  Jade also works closely with the management and works alongside the management to ensure the day to day running of the home is smooth and effective and that the staff are complying with CQC regulations. Jade assists the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living and is qualified in Safe Administration of medication and also Advanced dementia care. Jade is also a keyworker and is responsible for reviewing and updating residents care plans on a regular basis.  She also liaises with professionals and relatives to keep them informed and up to date.

Team Leaders

Ashtonleigh currently has 2 team leaders, Deepa Midhun and Andrei Lesuc.  They work closely alongside the Management team to lead the staff team with the daily running of the home during the day and night.  They assist the residents with personal care and their activities of daily living and supervises the senior carers and carers. They are both qualified in Safe Administration of medication and also Advanced dementia care. Andrei is responsible for completing maintenance checks and audits.  Deepa is a keyworker and is responsible for updating and reviewing residents care plans.  Both Team Leaders carry out supervisions with the staff and they attend regular training to keep their knowledge up to date.

Senior Carers and Carers

The senior carers also assist the residents with their personal care and deal with administration of medication and supervise the carers. Some senior carers are Keyworkers and are responsible for updating and reviewing residents care plans.

The carers assist the residents with their personal care and activities of daily living as well as socialising with them and maintaining good levels of nutrition and hydration.

Receptionist

Sarah Triccas is our professional, friendly and experienced receptionist. She warmly welcomes everyone in to the home and has experience in care for over 5 years. Before she became Ashtonleigh’s receptionist she was a senior carer so knows the residents very well. Sarah liaises with professionals, relatives and visitors to the home and is proud to show our home when viewings are requested.


Head Chef

Dot Sheppard is Ashtonleigh’s head chef has worked at the home for more than 20 years and is famous for her excellent cuisine. Dot has had a 5 star excellent award with Horsham Council for her excellent standards within the kitchen at Ashtonleigh Care Home. Dot is very traditional in her approach and always puts the resident first and thus always speaks to them about what menus they wish for and always offers a variety of different options. She is well versed to offering different culinary diets such as food for people on a gluten free diet, vegetarian, diabetes and multi-cultural diets

Activity co-ordinator

This residential care home in Horsham West Sussex has experienced activity coordinators who provides a wide variety of stimulating activities throughout the day.
